Welcome to Fine Velos – This is a site all about cycling. Pottering about on bikes, fixing up bikes and general rubbish about biking around the North East of England.
I’m Richard and this site is purely my view on things that I’ve learnt about bikes from doing over 8,000 miles on a bike in the last 5 years. This has been mostly on a heavily modified Specialiized Crosstrail hybrid bike, and where possible on tracks, waggonways and back roads.
I have more than 400 rides listed on Strava since 2017, most of these are around and not far from Newcastle upon Tyne. Some rides are a bit further away, including some NE classics – C2C (Sea to Sea), Coast & Castles, Hadrians Way & The Penine Cycle route. And not to forget the Reivers route, up through Kielder – rain, midges & getting lost.
